Making Positive Change, One Dress at a Time

Our Vision

Lets Start a Preloved Revolution

Fashion is the second biggest polluter of our planet and with the global bridal wear market set to reach £57.8 Billion by the year 2026 (that is a heck of a lot of single use wedding dresses), we thought it was high time to disrupt the market and create a kinder, more sustainable way to shop. Supporting designers, fashion houses and brides, we aim to empower, influence and raise awareness, giving back to those most in need, all the while reducing the carbon footprint of weddings, one dress at a time.

Ethics and sustainability are key to business growth in the current climate and with 90% of couples now stating that sustainability plays a key role in choosing the wedding suppliers they work with, it has never been a better time to make more conscious choices. House of Bridal offers a quick and simple way for brands and businesses to convert to more ethical and sustainable practises by offering an Impact Partnership programme that will showcase your business as an eco consious partner to customers globally. Sustainably simply.

Why Preloved

The dress that changed it all

It all started with a single dress and a three year old. That three year old was Louise, the founder of House of Bridal and the dress was a beautiful silk ballgown passed down from her grandmother in the 1950s. Skip a few years (just a few) and Louise opened her first couture boutique offering women around the world unique and rare collections of designer dresses. However unable to sit still, Louise started to recognise a gap in the market for high end sustainable fashion and remembering the joy the silk ballgown brought all of those years ago, House of Bridal was born.

Fashion and the Planet

The Environmental Cost

With over 131,000 weddings in the UK in 2023 and with the average wedding here emitting an estimated 14.5 tons of CO2 (just to put this into perspective, the average person generates the same amount of CO2 over a period of 4 years) is it time that we started to think a little more about the environmental impact of our weddings?

The good news is that there is a whole host of planet-kind choices that we can all make without sacrificing the important bits of our special day (yay!) and of course, one of the most important aspects is the dress!
